Turning Point and Offering Selected for Chester Photo Festival 2026
16–29 October 2026 · Exhibition · Chester Photo Festival, Chester, UK · Turning Point / Offering
Two photographs, Turning Point and Offering, have been selected for the second edition of Chester Photo Festival, taking place across the city from 16–29 October 2026.
This year’s festival is presented under the theme Making Voices Heard, bringing together an international group of photographers and artists whose work engages with personal experience, memory, myth and the different ways photography can communicate individual perspectives. The wider programme includes exhibitions, projections, artist talks, portfolio reviews and events across venues including the University of Chester, Chester Picturehouse, Grosvenor Museum, St John’s Church and St Werburgh’s Church.
My selected works, Turning Point and Offering, reflect an ongoing interest in perception, place and moments when familiar situations become more psychologically or visually uncertain. Turning Point is quieter and more ambiguous, using the relationship between figure, environment and atmosphere to hold the image somewhere between observation and projection. Offering similarly begins with an encountered moment, allowing gesture and context to remain open rather than resolving the scene into a fixed narrative.
The festival opens with a private view at the University of Chester, Exton Park Campus, on Friday 16 October from 2–4pm, followed by a programme of artist talks and events over the opening weekend. Exhibitions continue across the participating venues until 29 October. Selected work from the festival will also feature in the accompanying Chester Photo Festival hardback publication.
The inclusion of two works is particularly welcome within a festival centred on photographic voice and personal ways of seeing, ideas that sit closely with my broader interest in how perception shapes our relationship with the environments we inhabit.
