Colour Divides and Subway Stories were shown at Allen Hall Gallery in Glandford, Norfolk, following their selection for the 2026 Benjamin Hall Photography Award.
The pairing brings together two very different urban environments.
Photographed in Cape Town’s historic Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, Colour Divides uses colour, geometry and a chance alignment of car and architecture to explore the histories and social structures embedded within place.
Subway Stories, photographed in Tokyo, turns towards public transport and the fleeting relationships created between people, architecture and movement.
Shown together, the two photographs reflect a wider interest in how everyday environments organise the way we see, behave and understand our place within the world.
