STUDIO SESSIONS
Studio Sessions is an ongoing photographic project documenting artists within the spaces in which their work takes shape.
Moving between portraiture, observation and details of the working environment, the series looks beyond the finished artwork to consider the quieter elements of artistic practice: tools, materials, works in progress, accumulated objects and the traces of repeated activity that gradually give a studio its character.
Each visit is approached as a conversation with both the artist and the space they inhabit. Rather than attempting to construct a definitive portrait, the photographs build a fragmentary record of a particular moment in an artist’s practice, paying attention to gestures, surfaces and relationships that might otherwise remain unseen.
The project reflects my wider interest in attention, place and the ways environments can reveal something about the people who occupy them. Here, the studio becomes more than a backdrop. It is a working landscape shaped by thought, experimentation, routine and making.
