Three Works Selected in the 2026 URBAN Photo Awards

Three photographs — Colour Divides, Subway Stories and Temporary Monument — were selected as semifinalists in the 2026 URBAN Photo Awards.
Organised by the cultural association dotART in Trieste, URBAN is an international photography competition centred on contemporary interpretations of the city and urban life.
The three selected works move across Cape Town, Tokyo and Florence, but are connected by an interest in ordinary urban situations and the moments when colour, structure, movement or chance cause a familiar environment to shift in meaning.
Rather than approaching the city primarily through landmark or spectacle, each photograph begins with close observation of the everyday: the overlooked relationships between objects, people, architecture and the spaces they inhabit.
The selection also led to Temporary Monument being included in the URBAN Photo Days Tour exhibition at Trieste Airport, part of the programme leading towards the 13th edition of Trieste Photo Days.
