Colour Divides Published in the 2026 Sony World Photography Awards Book

Colour Divides is included in the official Sony World Photography Awards 2026 exhibition book, published by the World Photography Organisation to accompany the 19th edition of the awards.
The hardback publication brings together the winning and shortlisted photography from across the 2026 competitions, creating a permanent record of work selected from more than 430,000 images submitted from over 200 countries and territories. The book also includes a dedicated essay on Joel Meyerowitz, recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Contribution to Photography award.
My photograph Colour Divides appears following its selection as winner of the Object category in the Open Competition. Made on a Google Pixel 6 in Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap neighbourhood, the image brings together colour, geometry and a chance alignment of car and architecture, while its title also points towards the layered histories of division, identity and ownership held within the area.
Having the photograph reproduced in the annual awards book gives the work a life beyond its exhibition at Somerset House and the subsequent international touring programme, placing it within a broader record of contemporary photography from around the world.
